Police arrested three men and are on the lookout for a fourth suspect after a hazing stunt resulted in the death of two Virginia State University (VSU) students. The detained men represented a fraternity known as the “Men Of Honor” and as part of an initiation rite ordered seven students to cross a rushing river.

According to Richmond CBS News affiliate WTVR, hesterfield County officials have announced the names of the arrested as James A. Mackey Sr., 35, of suburban Richmond; Eriq K. Benson, 19, of Quinton; and Cory D. Baytop, 26, of Newport News. The group was charged with five counts of hazing. Charles E. Zollicoffer II, 29, is the lone missing suspect. Baytop and Benson both attended the university as well.

The body of 19-year-old freshman Marvell Edmonson, of Portsmouth, Va. was recovered after he and the other students attempted to cross the rushing Appomattox River. While some of the students were pulled to safety, Edmonson and another student were swept away. The search continues for 19-year-old Jauwan M. Holmes of Newport News.

The Men Of Honor fraternity is not an official group related to VSU, according to a school spokesperson. The spokesperson declined to discuss the arrest of the two students, but did say hazing has been a problem at the school in times past.

The historically black university has several sanctioned fraternities, sororities, and social groups and students are made aware of their affiliation with the school. There does not seem to be a link between the Men Of Honor with the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.
