A 12-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed or slashed by a 13-year-old neighbor, after he accused the other boy of lifting his Xbox console. Conflicting reports say the scuffle was either over the Xbox console itself, or one of the game system's controllers.
The incident took place last Friday after the younger boy accused the teen of taking his console. The older boy grabbed a butter knife to ward off his accuser, and according to the New York Daily News, the younger boy accidental stabbed himself in the stomach. He was later rushed to a nearby hospital for a puncture wound, and the older boy admitted he did pull out the butter knife.
The conflict rises after The New York Post reported that the younger boy merely sliced his finger after trying to grab the knife, and that it was over a controller for the Xbox and not the game system itself. The knife victim was treated at Jamaican Hospital and sent home.
Others in the quiet Queens neighborhood were shocked to hear of the altercation, saying that the victim isn't a troublemaker of any sort.
“That boy is a very good child,” said Doreen White to the Daily News. “He doesn't come out from his house unless he's riding his bike. He never has a problem or beef with anybody,” she added. “I never hear him out here fighting.”
The 13-year-old was charged with menacing as a minor after the police questioned him for one hour.
