While the remaining Straight Outta Compton slots have yet to be filled for DJ Yella and MC Ren, the main cast has already been set.

Ice Cube decided to keep in the family where as Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright did not.

Despite the slight on family portrayal heirlooms, Curtis Young, Dre’s eldest son is not taking it personal. He tells XXL he was called by the casting agency working the film but ultimately lost out to the more experienced actor, Corey Hawkins.

“I actually tried out for the role, ’cause the casting company called me. But my father wanted somebody with more acting experience, and I haven’t been acting for a long time, so I’m happy for the guy that got the role,” Young admits. “It’s one of those things where we want what’s best for the movie and for the film. I had a lot of fans that were upset about it, but whatever’s best for the film, that presents it in that light, then I’m for it. I want my father to be represented in the best way, so I didn’t feel any type of way about it at all.”

Not being cast as the The Good Doctor before he had several patients isn’t the be–all and end–all for Young, however. He is currently in shopping a reality show in which he stars with several other sons of famouos rappers. ” It’s me; Jam Master Jay’s son; Droop-E, E-40′s son; Waxxie, MC Ren’s son; and Lil Eazy, Eazy-E’s son,” he says. It won’t be a show about Hip-Hop princes scooping other groupie leftovers, though. ” I can’t speak for everybody else, but I have the family,” he confidently stated.
