On the latest episode of The Truth, Elliott Wilson chops it up with Angie Martinez about her latest power move from Hot 97 to rival competitor Power 105.
Angie Martinez one morning back in June announced she was resigning from her then radio position. As expected, the announcement prompted fans across the city to wonder why The Voice Of New York was leaving Hot 97 after 20 years of service for its arch enemy. She assured listeners there was no beef, that it was a simple business move and her relationships will remain in tact.
In speaking with Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson, she further expounded on what inspired the move, delving into her coming of age in the world of radio. Simply put, Martinez felt she reached the ceiling at Hot 97 and needed to continue to grow somewhere else. “I’m a competitor […] yes, I want to give the best radio show in the city,” she confidently stated.
