If you are an up and coming Hip-Hop artist or publicist active on Twitter, chances are you ran across one of the many helpful tweets of rapper and writer, Praverb The Wyse. By way of his personal Facebook page, it was revealed that Praverb died Wednesday (Sept. 17) morning of unknown causes.

Born Earl Patrick McNease, Praverb doubled as an independent rap artist while selflessly dispensing wisdom to anyone who cared to read. The type of information available on Praverb’s Twitter feed and website would normally come at a charge from industry types looking to score a dollar from anyone they could. Praverb’s mission was a bit loftier than that, as he continued to echo a belief that everyone who makes music also deserves a chance to make an impact on their terms. Without a doubt, Praverb left behind an amazing legacy of work.

[Writer’s note: In full disclosure, I spoke with Praverb recently about the craft of writing for the Web and he asked me for some leads. I was more than willing to help as I’ve learned so much in the short time I’ve gotten to know him. He was candid, honest, humble, and above all, willing to better himself as a father, husband and person.]

Back in July, Hip-Hop Wired named Praverb to our Black Twitter 100 list in the Music Mavens category at #11. Praverb gracefully reached out to us and thanked Hip-Hop Wired for including him on the list for what he humbly called his “small contribution.”

There was nothing at all small about the work Praverb did on behalf of Hip-Hop artists. And it is doubtful we’ll encounter another person with the willingness to share the blueprint of how to be a successful artist on the level he did ever again. He will be extremely missed.

Rest powerfully in peace, Praverb. We wish strength to your family in this time of mourning.

A GoFundMe account has been established by the McNease family to assist with funeral costs. You can help by following this link.
