You don’t hear about much crime circulating around Air Jordans in places such as, say, New Hampshire, but Nashua police had their hands full over the weekend with three knuckleheaded teenagers who staged an assault-and-robbery for the coveted brand of sneakers.
According to Patch, Anderson Thompson, Christopher Francisco, and Fray Cayetano—all of Lawrence, Mass and 19 years of age–were arrested for charged with felony-level robbery after they beat up a man in the Cedar Street area for $3,000 worth of apparel they had previously negotiated to set up an in-person transaction. On the bright side, police say that the victim was not seriously hurt following the attack.
As sneakers such as the Air Jordans begin to become more hard to come, authorities have seen an increase in crime for those trying to obtain them. Right before Christmas, a man in Ohio shot a teen dead who tried to rob him for his new Air Jordans in the “Legend Blue” variation. Jordan Brand spokesman Brian Facchini told the Associated Press that “consumer safety is of paramount importance” to the company and they are continuing to “work with our retail partners to share best practices and refine our launch process to improve the buying experience for our consumers.”
