In recent years the sneaker game has gone from crazy to violent as resell values of certain sneakers have turned them from fashion accessories to moneybags on toes.

Dr. Boyce Watkins, a popular and often controversial columnist and financial advisor, has never been shy in delivering his comments on the state of the Black community. Dr. Watkins aimed his attention on the buying and selling Air Jordans, which he says creates a “trade deficit” in the Black community.

Sneakerheads can be a ridiculous bunch. This is especially true if if a pair of Air Jordan sneakers are involved. 

Any fan lucky enough to land themselves any Michael Jordan memorabilia from his rookie year knows they’re sitting on a potential goldmine.

The question here should be, what took so long? Michael Jordan is officially a billionaire. Air Jordan landed at no. 513 on Forbes list of billionaires. 

You don’t hear about much crime circulating around Air Jordans in places such as, say, New Hampshire, but Nashua police had their hands full over the weekend with three knuckleheaded teenagers who staged an assault-and-robbery for the coveted brand of sneakers.

RiFF RaFF usually gets no country around these parts due to his over the top, pale coon type behavior. But his hit “Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz” is legit (mostly due to the hook and beat), and it now has a proper video. 

Police in Kentucky confiscated $3 million worth of stolen Nike shoes from a woman that says she didn’t know they were jacked. The woman bought the shoes from some other lady for $5 a pair, and had been selling them off with her daughter’s help.

Jordan Brand sells next generation basketball kicks (See: the Air Jordan XX9), and now even running shoes, but their most visible commodity is easily Air Jordan Retros. Michael Jordan himself recently commented on the portion of the JB business that relies on his all his past athletic exploits on the NBA court.

Flipping exclusive sneakers for a higher price has sadly become a norm consumers have to deal with, but it appears that there’s consequences to doing so if you’re a NCAA player.
