Quentin Tarantino spoke the truth at the “Say Their Name” a.k.a. #RiseUpOctober rally over the weekend, and now New York City’s police union want his movies boycotted.

Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, lashed out at the Academy Award-winning direct in a statement Sunday reportedly saying, “It’s no surprise that someone who makes a living glorifying crime and violence is a cop-hater, too. The police officers that Quentin Tarantino calls ‘murderers’ aren’t living in one of his depraved big-screen fantasies — they’re risking and sometimes sacrificing their lives to protect communities from real crime and mayhem.”

During the course of the rally, Tarantino, 52, spoke out against the deaths of Tamir Rice and Michael Brown–just to name a few of the unarmed Black Americans who lost their lives thanks to actions of police officers. He also addressed the recent murder of NYPD officer Randolph Holder, which he called the timing of the rally “unfortunate.”

“New Yorkers need to send a message to this purveyor of degeneracy that he has no business coming to our city to peddle his slanderous ‘Cop Fiction.’ It’s time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino’s films,” Lynch continued.

On the contrary, there was nothing “fictitious” about the death of Eric Garner or Nicholas Heyward, Jr. so there appeared to be a point for the rally after all, Mr. NYC Police Union.

By the way, The Hateful 8 arrives in theaters on December 25.
