A shooting situation Christmas Eve at Northlake Mall in Charlotte, N.C. has come to an end after it was reported that the gunman responsible for the incident was shot and killed.

Details are scant at the moment but from what we can determine via local and national news outlets, the shooting broke out around 2:10 p.m. ET according to a report from WBTV.

The shooting sparked a mass exodus of shoppers and panicked drivers away from Northlake Mall with responders and authorities rushing to the scene as best they can. Thus far, only one person was said to have suffered an injury and the identity of the gunman is still unknown.

The clip below is not official news footage of the incident but the video account of two persons who were inside the mall when the shooting took place. A warning: the images may be disturbing and the language might be considered harsh.

The entire region is under a lockdown, thus gathering new details has proven difficult.

As this story develops, we’ll return with more information.
