It’s been a downhead of an offseason for NBA player Dahntay Jones. A month after celebrating an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jones has found himself waived off the team and now he’s learned that a storage facility where he kept 400 pairs of his sneaker collection has auctioned off his keep (Storage Wars steez) and he is Wiz Khalifa pants size tight about it.
The collection of kicks included rare unreleased Nike samples and PE’s including exclusives made for Fat Joe.
Reports TMZ:
We spoke with Jones who admits he was late on his payments — but says it was a simple mix-up that could have been easily corrected without having to unload his sneakers.
Jones says his credit card stopped making payments to the facility due to a possible fraud alert (it happens sometimes) … but says he contacted the facility and told them he would come up with the cash (he’s reportedly made $18 mil in the NBA).
Jones says the facility went ahead with the sale anyway … and now, he’s out 1/4 of his beloved shoe collection. He’s considering legal action.
By the way, Jones says the outstanding bill was LESS THAN $400.
As for his ex-kicks … the new owner says he plans to sell them on eBay .. and we’re told they’ll probably fetch a hefty return.
From the sounds of it the buyer (who won the auction with a bid around a mere $4,000) will at the very least triple his investment with the sale of a few pairs.
Unfortunately for Jones his loss is a bunch of thirsty hypebeasts’ gain.
Peep pics of the collection below and on the following pages.
