Paula Deen Compares Her Racist Struggle To Openly Gay Michael Sam Situation

Disgraced former FOOD Network personality Paula Deen almost made it out of Black History Month 2014 unscathed–until she compared herself to openly gay NFL prospect Michael Sam.

The 67-year-old celebrity chef saw her empire crumble down this past summer when she openly admitted to making racist remarks about African-Americans and downplayed it by hiding behind her southern roots.

She was subsequently fired from the popular television channel’s regime and lost a host of endorsements. More than six months after the fact, it appears she hasn’t learned a thing.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Deen once again spoke carelessly by likening her struggle to Sam’s announcement that he was gay, stating “I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name. It’s like that black football player who recently came out. I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”

Aside from a poor showing at the NFL combine and the understandable shell shock of his father, Sam has received the support of many of his peers. Not to mention Deen didn’t even identified by his name but by his race.

Paula Deen has been ridiculed for being a racist because she says racist things. If it walks, talks and acts like a duck, don’t use any Paula Deen recipes to roast it in.

When a person has been raised in a racist environment such as Paula in her childhood, her way of talking has been embedded in her mind and spirit. One way of letting that train of talk or thinking be erased is simple, just remember that God created the human race, which includes all ethnicities, therefore we all are equal in His eyes. God himself is Love, and his Love shows respect, and admonishes all to understand that we are One.No one has the right to believe that they are supreme over another human being. One must acknowledge their faults and mistakes to get to the place of Godly humility and understand that their is no place for any kind of racism.
