Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” Inspires Crazy Memes Despite Delay [Photos]

So the bad news is that Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” record has been pushed back until August 4.

The good news–especially for genius behind the upcoming Pink Print single’s marketing–is that people can’t stop talking about its tantalizing artwork.

Although it was scheduled to be released today, July 28, the single suffered a pushback, as these things tend to happen in the music industry. Perhaps the buzz generated from the artwork was enough to keep the people waiting but whatever the reason, Nicki did offer up a disclaimer to the world.

“My darlingz, I’ve pushed the release of Anaconda to next week, Monday 8/4,” she said via her Instagram handle. “I promise you will understand why before the week is out. Loveeeeeeee uuuuuu.”

When you have a loyal fanbase such as Nicki’s, an appetizer can be turned into a four-course meal from The French Laundry. They flooded the world wide web with memes that honed in on the cakes of the superstar rapper. There were plenty Photoshop jobs with pieces of classic art, common household furniture and pop culture references. Naturally the unofficial Photoshop president, Peeje also found a way to get in on the action.

Flip through the numbered gallery below to see the ridiculousness the Internet cooked up in the absence of actual music.

The Drake one and the Michael D’ANGELO one were hilarious! Nick better hope this music she puts out. Matches the hype she’s building with her thirsty media grabs. At the end of the day, gimmicks get old.
