The U.S. Department of Education just gave us a glimpse of what to expect from them under Besty Devos’ rule.
In an attempt to honor legendary scholar W.E.B. DuBois during Black History Month, the Education department sent out a tweet this past weekend featuring one of his quotes. Thing is, they spelled his name wrong.
The tweet is still live.
After Twitter roasted the department for their folly, they came back with an apology. But they messed that up too. In a tweet that has since been deleted, the Education department said, “Post updated – our deepest apologizes for the earlier typo.”
This doesn’t come as too much of a shock though. Our government, with some assistance from Vice-President Mike Pence, approved billionaire Betsy DeVos as secretary of the department despite being vastly under-qualified for the job. This also came weeks after the man who nominated her, President Trump, implied that Frederick Douglass is still alive.
