Unbeknownst to many hypebeasts who camp out for exclusive Jordan releases and cock-block actual Jordan era fans, the man whose footwear they have a cult like worship for actually started out his athletic life playing ball on a diamond and not a court.
To commemorate the affection Michael Jordan has for America’s pastime, Jordan Brand is releasing an Air Jordan IX Pinnacle pack that features an eye-catching leather base that resembles a baseball mitt.
Retailing for $250 and available in only brown and black colorways, customers will have to purchase these limited edition puppies without knowing what they’re getting until after they open up the plastic wrap around the box. You know, like a pack of baseball cards.
The Black/Metgold-white pair will feature #45 on the heel while the Hazelnut/Sail will don the #35. Those are the numbers that ballpark Mike rocked during his stints in Birmingham. Ala., and Scottsdale, Ariz.
The release will be accompanied by a pair of baseball jerseys and hats to compliment the mystery kicks.
Check out the list of stores that’ll carry this special release come July 15 and let us know if you’ll be checking for these when they drop.
