If anyone ever doubted that Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan and Black Thought of The Roots are still not potent and formidable lyricists even as they age gracefully into their 40s might be smoking something strong. Speaking of strong, the Hip-Hop veterans completely destroyed microphones during a recent sit down with Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning and folks on social media are still trying to process the bar skill they witnessed.

Fans of the rappers should know that both appear in HBO’s latest drama from David Simon, The Duece, with Thought playing pimp Reggie Love and Mr. Meth in the role of permed out player, Rodney.

But really, it’s the bar excellence that both men display that’s the meat of this post and we won’t even try to waste time in trying to catch lines. While Method Man read his verses off his phone, Black Thought opened up his mental rhyme book and went for self.

Check out the Sway In The Morning freestyle session with Method Man and Black Thought below then hit the flip for reactions.
