When he was working with Kanye West on Donda, Conway had to abide by Ye’s ungodly rules of no drinking or smoking while with him. The Machine admits that it did affect him creatively the first couple of days saying he “laid a brick” because he couldn’t expand his mind and was working on “gospel” music. Being that he never went to church like that he felt like he was out of his element and wasn’t able to get into the mental state he’d need to be in to create at the time. Eventually he knew he didn’t need weed to do his thing and was able to crank out some bangers on the sober tip.
