Jimi Hendrix – “The Ballad of Jimi”
“Many things he would try, for he knew he’d soon die… Now Jimi’s gone, he’s not alone, his memory lives on… Five years, this he said. He’s not gone he’s just dead.”
Hendrix died 3 years after recording this tune. Though he states at the beginning of the song that the lyrics are about his friend coincidently name “Jimi,” he also adds, “this is my story,” toward the end. Prophetic purple haze.
