“American Gangster” Frank Lucas Charged With Social Security Theft
I guess it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks as crime just seems to be permanently ethcedin Frank Lucas’ blood.
The former 81-year-old heroin kingpin, who Denzel Washington portrayed in the film American Gangster, has been charged with theft by deception for deceiving the U.S. Treasury.
According to The New York Daily News, authorities busted the Sr. Gangsta after he claimed he lost a Social Security check and received a replacement and then proceeded to cash them both. (My man…)
Total value = $17,300.
Lucas allegedly told the U.S. Treasury he lost a Social Security check with funds earmarked for his 15-year-old son and asked for a duplicate, prosecutors said.
Then he cashed both checks in Newark, they said.
Lucas denied doing anything wrong and is reportedly been trying to work out a deal to keep out of jail.
