The good folks at Fuse caught up with Kendrick Lamar out at the South by South West festival (where he debuted a new Neptunes produced track) and the Top Dawg Entertainment artist dropped some updates on his current and future endeavors. The first point of discussion was K. Dot’s forthcoming, as yet untitled follow up to the critically acclaimed Section.80 and who would be providing the production. The Compton rapper wants to stay close to home, at first.

“I really just been keeping it in-house, the people that I came up with on Section.80, Kendrick Lamar EP. I wanted to lock in with them first, because these [are] the people that know my sound,” said Kendrick. “And I know their niches and we work together and it meshes properly. So I wanted to lock in with them first before I reached out to anybodyelse. So right now it’s just all in house; Sounwave, Tae Beast, Willie B.”

Kendrick also talked about signing to Intercope/Aftermath Records and simultaneously spoke highly of Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.  “The CEO of Top Dawg just felt like it was just time to elevate and take it to the next level,” said Kendrick. “And that dude right there always put me in a space where I could be myself creatively through music. And he handle all the business end and that what I love and respect the most about dude. When he go into any situation it’s always for my best interest. Know that, this was the best move because it still allows me to be the artist that I can be.”
