George Zimmerman has been keeping a low profile ever since he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, and now the 28-year-old has emerged—to ask for money to help pay his bills.

Zimmerman launched the website, TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com, where he subtly plays the victim, and makes a plea to the public for monetary assistance. “I am the real George Zimmerman,” reads a statement on the site. “As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my family and ultimately, my entire life. This website’s sole purpose is to ensure my supporters they are receiving my full attention without any intermediaries.

“I would like to provide an avenue to thank my supporters personally and ensure that any funds provided are used only for living expenses and legal defense, in lieu of my forced inability to maintain employment. I will also personally, maintain accountability of all funds received. I reassure you, every donation is appreciated.”

Soon after word of the website hit the news circuit, the part-time neighborhood watch volunteer’s  lawyer,  Craig Sonner, defended his client’s decision to ask the public for help.

Since Martin’s death in late February, the 28-year-old has been pegged as a racist, claims of which may have been solidified by that now infamous 911 call in which is he is specifically told not to pursue Martin, and allegedly uses a racial slur. In the weeks since the shooting, Zimmerman has let his friends, family, and lawyer speak for him, due to legal reasons, barring him from going too deep into detail on the matter.

Aside from the website, there is also news that Angela Corey, the special prosecutor assigned to the case, will not use a grand jury to determine whether or not Zimmerman should be arrested. Many are wondering if he will ever be brought to justice, but given the strong public support of Martin’s family, opting to let the Florida resident get off scott free will likely result in a public backlash. If charged, Zimmerman has said that he will turn himself in.

Supporters are encouraged to use credit cards or Paypal to send money Zimmerman’s way. This guy has no shame.
