Detroit rapper Danny Brown may not be familiar to rap fans that get their fill of Hip-Hop by only listening to commercial radio. But the lyricist is doing quite alright for himself by being an indie rap darling. A pair of critically praised album, The Hybrid and X-X-X, and numerous guest appearances, and even a Fader magazine cover, is enough for Pitchfork.tv to make the “Blunt After Blunt” rapper the subject of a mini-documentary called “Detroit State Of Mind.”

Brown, along with friends and family, takes you on a trip through the gritty side of Motown, gets okee doked into performing at Dilla Day and speaks on his MF DOOM influence, among other topics. Watch “Detroit State of Mind” below.
