Shellie Zimmerman is a free woman. The wife of accused killed, George Zimmerman, was released from the John E. Polk Correctional Facility Tuesday (June 12) after posting $1,000 bail, 30 minutes after she arrived

Mrs. Zimmerman was briefly housed in the same facility that her husband was ordered back to, after Judge Kenneth Lester revoked his bond.

Now that her identity has been revealed to the world via her mug shot, her husband is said to be concerned for her safety. “Certainly now that she’s been charged with a crime he’s worried about her, and also worried now that she’s out in the public eye,” lawyer Mike O’Mara told reporters during a visit to his client Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old was taken into custody on one count of perjury after she lied to authorities during her husband’s bond hearing. Despite having more than $100,000 in a Paypal account created to receive funds from a donation website, Shellie claimed to have no recollection of the amount of money at their disposal, and also transferred a large sum of money to her personal bank account, in an attempt to keep their financial status under wraps.

Since he gunned down Trayvon Martin in February, the former neighborhood watch captain has been in and out of custody. He will get another shot at freedom pending the result of a new bond hearing to take place later this month.
