A Baptist church in South Carolina has grabbed attention for an explosive claim posted on their marquee. The Macedonia Baptist Church in Columbia posted a sign that reads “Ultimate Racism: Abortionists Target Black Babies.”

The church’s pastor Patrick Dye—a white man—defended his decision to make such a bold (and true) statement.  “I cannot be silent and just say that’s somebody else’s problem or I’m not dark enough to care about that issue,” he said. “I can’t do that. This is the crime of America.”

According to Dye, companies like Planned Parenthood, are strategically placed in minority neighborhoods. “The Planned Parenthood clinic is located at the edge of a white community, but right there within walking distance of the housing project on Forest Drive and Two Notch Road,”  he added.

This isn’t the first time that a group has used a public forum to speak on a woman’s right to choose. Last August an anti-abortion group put up a billboard Atlanta attacking Jesse Jackson for “betraying” Americans for his stance on the issue.
