The on-going conflict between Israeli and Palestine has caused unrest to citizens in both countries, but according to Russell Simmons the situation is just like “rap beef.” The Hip-Hop philanthropist traveled to Israel to encourage on cross-faith dialogue between, and says that ending the longstanding feud can be achieved by talking things out.

Simmons noted a lack of understanding between Muslim and Jews, whom he feels “have the same aspirations and goals that are much greater than the things they call differences,” as the root of the rift.

During his trip, the 54-year-old also discussed yoga with the country’s Grand Mufti Muhammad Ahmed-Hussein, was blessed by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz at the Western Wall, and reunited with rapper Shyne.

Comparing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which dates back almost 100 years, to petty rap beef may be too much of a simplification, though. Click below to see photos of Uncle Rush and Shyne.
