Hip-Hop has been holding its breath for 2 ChainzBased on a T.R.U. story debut, and when the album cover was released this week, its simplicity may have solidified its potential success. Designed by Kanye West’s DONDA design team, and shot by noted photographer Fabien Montique, the cover’s meaning directly relates to the content. “This is one of these rare occasions when you can judge a book by its cover,” he tells Hip-Hop Wired exclusively. “The music is as dope as the art work. I want people to always expect the highest quality of music and artistry from me. This includes something as simple as the album art.”

A former member of Playaz Circle, the 35-year-old’s rise over the last eight months has been nothing short of meteoric. His Drake-assisted “No Lie” single has charted in the Top 40 on Rhythm and Top 10 on Urban radio, add that to a performance at the 2010 BET Awards, and co-signs from just about everyone in the game, and the sky is the limit for the rapper. “I want the consumer to feel like their buying quality product. Something that took time to create. I know when I go into the stores to buy something, I’m looking for the finest. I expect them to do the same.”

Based on a T.R.U. Story drops August 14.
