Mitt Romney announced his vice presidential running mate, Paul Ryan, over the weekend, and the Wisconsin congressman wasted no time attacking President Obama. Ryan said Saturday (Aug. 11) that the country is in the worst economic situation in 70 years, and blamed the POTUS for it all, stating that he has a “record of failure.”

Ryan, a seven-term congressman spoke from a prepared statement, lashing out at Obama for the job he’s done during his first term as president. “No one disputes President Obama inherited a difficult situation,” he said. “And, in his first two years, with his party in complete control of Washington, he passed nearly every item on his agenda. But that didn’t make things better.”

He also blamed Obama for the unemployment rates, which saw a small increase in the month of July.

In response to the VP pick, the president’s campaign manager, Jim Messina, called Ryan “the architect of the radical Republican House budget .” He also predicted that choosing Romney and Ryan would not only be a step in the wrong direction, but would return the country to the “reckless Bush economic policies that exploded our deficit and crashed our economy.”
