Tameka Raymond suffered another loss in her battle against ex-husband, Usher. A judge denied her request to retry to the custody case, concluding that her cries of bias were unwarranted.
Tameka argued that the judge sided in Usher’s favor because his lawyers helped raise money for her 2008 re-election campaign, but that theory wasn’t enough to buy her a new custody trial.
The judge argued that Usher’s lawyers raising the money was public knowledge long before the trial actually began, and therefore should have been raised earlier. Essentially, if Tameka felt that the information would affect the outcome of the trial, she should have brought it up before losing primary custody of the two sons she shares with the R&B star. Since she failed to do so, her allegations were dismissed.
Usher submitted his own paperwork attempting to block her request for a re-trial, citing that her claims were making a mockery of the legal system.
Tameka has plans to continue her fight for little Usher Raymond V, and Naviyd Raymond, by appealing the most current ruling. The 41-year-old took to Twitter to send words of encouragement to actress Kelly Rutherford who is also involved in a custody battle against her ex. “Prayers for your victory, I feel your pain. Trust me.”
Although he’s been less vocal, Usher has opened up about the ordeal for an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, airing Sunday (Sept. 16) night. Tameka has named herself the “common denominator” in the interview.
