For music fans in the city of Seattle, indie rap star Ben “Macklemore” Haggerty and his production partner Ryan Lewis are essentially household names. But beyond their Pacific Northwest confines, Macklemore’s fun-loving, yet polished rhymes should endear him to a far wider audience – especially so after making the XXL 2012 Freshmen Class cover. Already making a name for himself with 2009’s The V.S. EP, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ debut full-length album The Heist hit the charts hard by going #1 out the gate, selling almost 75K units its first week out

For those of us still not familiar, the good folks over at Complex caught up with the fashion thrifty Macklemore where he revealed he went to the same high school Digable Planets front man Ishmael Butler, rock legend Jimi Hendrix, and iconic producer Quincy Jones attended, his bout with drug addiction, Hip-Hop in his hometown and more.
