The NBA pre-season is in full swing and the regular season is around the corner, but Derrick Rose isn’t ready to play, yet. The latest and fifth episode of  adidas Basketball’s “The Return Of D-Rose” series still has footage of the star guard rehabbing his left knee, but focuses more on what drives him; winning an NBA championship.

Also included is footage of when Rose was in Chicago to debut his latest signature sneaker, the D Rose 3, and started crying after watching the first episode of this very series. It was an emotional moment knowing how far he had come with his family their in the same room. “When I was growing up my thing was just changing my mom’s lifestyle,” says Rose in the clip. “She’s my mom, my father; I can talk to her about anything. She’s like my friend. Our relationship is definitely strong.”

Later, he discusses what motivates him knowing his family is good.  “Championships is how you get noticed in this league,” he says. “I can’t talk, I can’t brag about anything. I won an MVP Award, so? That was two years ago. I ain’t win no championship. You can’t say nothing until you win a championship.”

Of course, repping for Chi-town is always part of the equation. “Being from Chicago and bring a ring back, man. There’s only thing on my list, and that’s to win a championship. That’s what drives me to become a better player.”
