In the book of comic legends, Richard Pryor will go down as one of the funniest performers in history, but it was his drug addiction that got him into trouble. In 1980 Pryor set himself on fire while freebasing cocaine. He suffered third-degree burns and spent six weeks in the hospital, but made light of the situation during his 1982 comedy show Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip.
