Mitt Romney doesn’t mess around when it comes to money.

Just after taking the stage to speak on losing the election, workers behind Romney’s presidential bid found out the hard way that their campaign credit cards were no longer useable.

The cards were abruptly cut off in the middle of night, leaving some stuck as they tried to get cabs from the Massachusetts location where the 65-year-old gave his concession speech.

As reported by Garrett Hock at NBC, the financial bottom came out the Romney campaign almost instantly:

From the moment Mitt Romney stepped off stage Tuesday night, having just delivered a brief concession speech he wrote only that evening, the massive infrastructure surrounding his campaign quickly began to disassemble itself.

Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.

This is probably not the best look for Romney’s public image since he was seen as being a multi-millionaire with no compassion for the middle class. On an opposing side, you don’t amass a reported $200 million fortune by squandering money to make sure the people who helped you run for president get home safely. It’s just bad business.
