Rihanna cleared up why things on her 777 tour plane didn’t go as fans and journalists would have hoped.
In an interview on BBC Radio, the 24-year-old set the record straight, denying claims of being crazy, and too focused on herself to care about the others on that seven-day, seven-country tour.
“It was different having to do your job but also have 200 guests come along with you,” she said. “They all want you to host a party every time you get on the plane after a show but you really only have that time to sleep until you get to the next country.
“Sometimes it was a two-hour ride to the next country and that was all the sleep you would get.”
Contrary to popular belief, she also wasn’t spending her time partying the night away. “I knew I had seven countries and seven shows and I had to save my voice,” she said. “I didn’t go crazy. I didn’t party too hard.”
While the journalists may still be decompressing from the ordeal, Rih Rih got back into the swing of things after a short break to spend time with Chris Brown in Germany. She performed on the UK’s X Factor over the weekend, and continues to promote her new album.
At first what seemed like a great promotional tool turned dreadful when some 150 journalists revolted against lack of sleep, food, and face time with Rih. In the end, she finally stopped for interviews with the press on the plane, one day before the end of the tour.
With or without the bad publicity, her Unapologetic album still topped Billboard charts coming in the No. 1 spot, while her “Diamonds” single also made its way to first place.
