Rhymefest Defeated In Local Chicago Election, Claims Fraud

Che “Rhymefest” Smith seems to have fallen short in the runoff to becoming Alderman of the South Side of Chicago.

With 84 percent of precincts in, Willie Cochran had 54.6 percent to 45.4 percent for Smith.

The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist was targeted by former police officer, Cochran for his arrest record and abrasive lyrics but Smith was still gathering votes regardless of his past.

Rhymefest’s poll watchers claim there were some irregularities on election day with the actual voting and he has five days to demand a recount.

“I know that I didn’t fit the profile of an alderman traditionally. We gonna keep fighting for your votes to be counted. Every one of these irregularities is going to be taken care of,” Smith said.
