Mary J. Blige is preparing for arguably the biggest role of her acting career, her portrayal of singer Nina Simone.

The FFAWN Foundation head was recently named as the lead role in the upcoming film “ Nina”, detailing the story of the songstress and her relationship with her manager Clifton Henderson.

The film is directed by Cynthia Mort, famous for her hit sitcom “Will & Grace”, and will also feature David Oyelowo as Blige’s co-star.

Speaking on the role Blige tells US Magazine,

“I’m definitely still doing it, and I’m in acting classes for it now.”

The final project is set to hit theatres next year.
