Andre 3000 Playing Jimi Hendrix In Biopic
Actress Hayley Atwell dished some details to Esquire about a new movie in the works, where Outkast MC Andre 3000 may be taking a leading role.
“Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix. But I don’t know, really. The Atwell team is like, Let’s just wait and see.”
While nothing has been confirmed, this is a promising lead for Andre who spoke of wanting the role to showcase the contrasting sides of Hendrix’s persona.
Andre revealed to the Daily News, ”Jimi was wild onstage, offstage, he was really calm.“
There have been numerous attempts to film a biopic, though the only one to prevail was a film called “Slide,” which was said to be a “fictionalized account of what happened during Hendrix’s ‘lost weekend’.”
This however, would have no involvement from the legend’s family.
