If there was any doubt into whether or not Mitt Romney has paid taxes, the answer is yes. The Republican presidential hopeful responded to criticism Friday (Aug. 3) that he has received for refusing to reveal more if tax records.

During a campaign stop in Nevada, Romney said that he “paid taxes every year — and a lot of taxes.”

Yet many, like Democratic Leader of the Summit, Harry Reid, believe that the 65-year-old put money in offshore accounts to fall into a smaller tax bracket. In 2010 Romney forked over only 13.9 percent of his $21.6 million income.

Having only released taxes dating back two years, as required, Romney has said that revealing more returns opens the door for bi-partisan exploitation.

According to a new poll, Romney  is having trouble convincing voters that he can lead the country out of economic ruin, and his tax issues aren’t helping him look trustworthy in the eyes of the American people. Romney continues to trail President Obama in battleground states.
