A Lauderhill, Florida woman was arrested for trying to kill her own child, because she felt that she had no choice. Sheronda Hall Roselva was taken into custody Sunday (Sept. 9) for beating her teenager with a baseball bat and attempting to stab him.
Police responded to calls that the 17-year-old was being attacked by his mother. According to the victim, he was in his room sleeping when Roselva walked in and kicked off the attack. She repeatedly hit him in the head with the bat before leaving the room and coming back with a knife. She told the teen “I have to kill you,” and raised her hand to carry out the act. The boy was able to grab his mother’s arm to stop her from stabbing him, before running to a neighbor’s house for safety and asking someone to call 911.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Roselva sitting on her porch with the bat and knife next to her. “I wanted to kill my son because I cannot take care of him and I don’t want him to suffer,” she told police.
Roselva is unemployed and has lived in South Florida her entire life. Her bond was set at $50,000 Monday (Sept. 11), and if she is able to post the amount, Roselva will be monitored by a GPS tracking device. She is not allowed to have contact with her son.
