Police in Big Bear California have been engaged in a gun battle with former police officer Christopher Dorner.

Southern California police announced Wednesday (Feb.6) that they are looking for a former LAPD officer implicated in the double murder of a newly engaged couple on Super Bowl Sunday. Dorner was upset over being fired and sought revenge against victims, Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence.

In an online manifesto, Dorner addressed the writings to “America,” and described his plan to kill as being a “necessary evil.”

“I know I will be villified [sic] by the LAPD and the media, unfortunately, this is a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake and complete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name.”

There have been numerous gunshots fired during the live feed. Two deputies have been shot in the battle and Dorner is said to be heavily armed. Smoke grenades were last left by him near Highway 38 & Seven Oaks.

According to Newsbreaker, a police officer has phoned in and said “We’ve been trading shots with him for the last 20 minutes.”

In progress.
