Tyler, The Creator has a penchant for outlandish and bizarre statements, but he’s managed to top his earlier exploits after saying white people can use the racially charged “n-word.”

The Boombox pointed out that while visiting Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg morning program Tuesday (Feb. 26), the Odd Future front man talked about his experience GRAMMY-nominated crooner Frank Ocean at the awards show earlier this month. The bombshell moment, however, came after crew member Taco asked Rosenberg if he’s ever used the n-word and prompted Tyler to go on a passionate rant.

“We don’t actually give a f-ck about that sh-t,” said Tyler. “Mothaf–kers who care are the reason racism is still alive if you think about it.”

Co-host K. Foxx tried to give Tyler a history lesson on the racist undertones of the word, but was met with indifference from the 21-year-old California native.

” I know, that’s sick, that’s cool,” Tyler responded. “I guess people my age, we’re not even thinking like that. But when you think like that, you keep the racism alive when that’s not even on our palette.”

Foxx then challenged Tyler on what issues he stands for, and the GOBLIN MC responded as expected. “Being rich and trying to have as much fun as I can,” he dryly answered. Tyler did add that the only time the term is offensive is if a white person is being disrespectful. Good to know he recognizes that, at least.
