Rumor has it that Girl Scout cookies are pretty addicting. Here’s proof.

A man in South Carolina was arrested in a cookie-grabbing heist worth a reported value of $19,0000.

Late last month, Christopher Maurice Morton, jacked more than 400 cases of cookies from  a warehouse in Spartanbug. Brian Carey, owner of Carey Moving and Storage, reported that over 350 boxes were taken from his facility on Feb. 26.

Carey said that the treats began getting delivered on Feb. 15. He noticed that boxes were missing when his employees were doing inventory and came up short.

The popular Thin Mints and Shortbread cookies were missing, valued at $18,900.

When an investigator confronted Morton–who worked as a truck driver for the company–he confessed to taking 450 cases of cookies. He’s since been fired.

In a written statement, Master Deputy Kevin Bob, thanked Carey Moving and Storage “for their assistance with this investigation.”

Carey was upset with the heist, since he’s been helping out the Girl Scouts for 40 years. Partial proceeds from each sale help to fund things like community beautification programs. Susan Schneider, director of public relations and advocacy for Girl Scouts of South Carolina, said that sales have not been hurt by the incident. “We are pleased with the continuing support from customers,” Schneider said. “If people have gotten their fill of cookies themselves, they can always buy a box at a booth and have them sent to soldiers overseas. We work with the Blue Star Mothers on that.”

Morton has been charged with breach of trust more than $10,000. He was released from the Spartanburg County Detention Facility on $10,000 bond.
