Last night, Footaction held a private event at the Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, where Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar took the stage to perform a set of track’s from his good kid, m.A.A.d. city LP. Attendees were engaged by crowd favorites like “Backstreet Freestyle” and “Poetic Justice,” but K. Dot had something special in store for “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe.”
Lamar’s secret was Scottish artist Emeli Sandé (pronounced san-day), who sang a never heard before intro on his current single that sounded damned good. Hopefully, this performance means the TDE rapper will drop a CDQ for this version. If not, the two should at least consider doing more collaborative efforts like Sandé’s “Next To Me.”
Thursday evening’s festivities were more than a concert. The event’s purpose was actually to showcase the finalists of a fan-created artwork competition inspired by the good kid m.A.A.d. city cover. See Lamar and Sandé take the stage in the footage below.
