Lil Wayne was given the honor of opening up the 2014 MTVU Woodie Awards, which finally aired last night (March 17). Though his stage time was brief, he was able to send the crowd into a frenzy with a performance and an unheard freestyle.

“A Milli” from his multi-platinum Tha Carter III LP was Tunechi’s song of choice. He quickly cut off the track after spitting the first few lines to thank MTVU Woodie Awards for all that they’ve done for music culture. “Tonight, we’re here to celebrate my life — the thing of my life — and that’s music,” said Wayne before noting artists who appeared on the awards show pre-fame.

Before exiting the stage, the rapper kicked a verse that we assume will appear somewhere on his final album, Tha Carter V. For now, all new Lil Wayne bars can be heard on Young Money’s Rise of an Empire LP.
