Hip-Hop witnessed Nas mature into a revered intellectual that’s showing MCs how to naturally grow with the culture from the chip-toothed poet from Queensbridge. As further proof, performed Illmatic in its entirety at a pair of sold out shows at Washington D.C.’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on March 28 and March 29, respectively.

But this wasn’t an ordinary show. A dapper Nasty Nas was backed by the 40-member National Symphony Orchestra and DJ Green Lantern during the performance. The special concert was a part of the One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide, and followed a live conversation with professor Michael Eric Dyson at Georgetown University about his 1994 debut.
