While the status of a new Wu-Tang Clan united effort still hangs in the balances, Raekwon pushes forward with his sixth album Fly International Luxurious Art. Today we get a formal invitation to the project with “The Living Room.”

Rae gives us a couple of different looks over the three part track. The opener finds The Chef living lavishly over a chopped soul sample and funky horn anchored instrumental. “Flexing at the coliseum, not the one on Jamaica Ave./The one up in my lab with no demons in it,” he boasts.

After a super brief interlude that features his signature third person ad-libs, the wordsmith flexes his OG muscle over a more gritty piano led beat. Raekwon flows effortlessly while reminding us we should respect the hair on his legs. “We like the Ringling Bros. posing in Nikes/Rocking big dumb knots that’s stupid/Spray a groupie up.”

The final portion finds Rae taking a back seat and letting Aretha Franklin’s famed “Walk On By” mark his exit from the song.

Given the quality of the more recent Wu work, is Raekwon all we have to look forward in terms of a true killer bee sting in 2014? Listen to “The Living Room” below and let us know what you think in the comments section.
