Ten years ago, The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon wouldn’t rank highly on a list of places fans would expect to hear a dope verse from The Roots’ resident wordsmith, Black Thought. But as a member of the house band he’s done it before, and last night, he did it again.

This time, fictional wizardry and witchcraft saga, Harry Potter, was the selected topic. Thought was challenged to discuss key points of the story line in rhyme. That resulted in a synopsis that IMBD could be envious of. But that’s to be expected when discussing a MC of Thought’s caliber.

More of the Philadelphia native’s rhymes can be heard on The Roots newest LP, …and then you shoot your cousin, which is currently available on iTunes.

Hear Black Thought freestyle with The Roots backing him in the clip below.
