Brooklyn, more specifically Bed-Stuy, was the place to be Sunday for Spike Lee‘s block party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his classic film, Do The Right Thing. Lee brought out all the big names, including an impromptu freestyle from Yasiin Bey, a performance from Public Enemy and much more.

It was an especially great weekend for Hip-Hop and comedy fans as Dave Chappelle just finished a run of Radio City Music Hall concerts which featured a Black Star reunion with Talib Kweli rocking alongside Bey. Chappelle made an appearance at the block party as well, joining Erykah Badu and Wesley Snipes at various points. Public Enemy performed their explosive “Fight The Power” single, which was featured heavily in the movie.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama also sent in a message to Lee congratulating him for the anniversary, with Mr. Obama sharing he and his wife’s first date was watching Do The Right Thing.

After the performances and celebrations, a block on Stuyvesant Avenue (stretching between Lexington and Quincy) was renamed Do The Right Thing Way. How’s that for an honor?
