Floyd Mayweather, just the guy we need weighing in on Ray Rice‘s domestic violence struggles. But instead of the powerful pugilist slamming Rice, Mayweather actually blasts the NFL for being too harsh on the player.

Mayweather, no paragon himself in the domestic violence department due to his alleged situations, spoke from Las Vegas Tuesday during a press event ahead of his upcoming rematch this Saturday against Marcos Maidana. Mayweather says that the NFL should have stuck to its word and not let the latest video footage sway its decision in exiling Rice from football.

From MLive:

“They had said that they had suspended him for two games. Whether they saw the tape or not, I truly believe a person should stick to their word. If you tell me you’re going to do something, do what you say you’re going to do. But once again, I’m not in the NFL, so I can’t really speak on the situation.”

But wait…he just spoke on it…never mind.

Mayweather couldn’t help himself from this point forward, taking a very sympathetic bent towards the former Baltimore Ravens running back.

“I know he’s probably going through a lot right now because football is his passion, football is his love,” continued Mayweather.

Mayweather addressed his own domestic violence incidents in the discussion, which was impacted by a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles filed by ex-fiancee Shantel Jackson.

“I don’t really focus on that stuff,” Mayweather said. “You know, I’ve been facing so many obstacles throughout my life. My main thing is to just focus on my job, which is boxing.”

Good idea, Floyd.
