It’s never been in anyone’s best interests to agitate Mike Tyson. CP24 Toronto News anchor, Nathan Downer, didn’t appear to get that memo, as he asked the former heavyweight champ a question regarding his prior sexual assault conviction during a live broadcast.

Tyson appeared on the televised program to promote his one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. But Downer, however, decided to question his chummy relationship with Toronto’s mayor, Rob Ford, who’s running for re-election.

“Some of your critics would say, ‘You know, there’s a race for mayor, we know you’re a convicted rapist, this could hurt his campaign,'” Downer said. “How would you respond to that?”

Again, how could anyone think asking that question was a good idea?

Luckily, Tyson limited his backlash to words, responding “I don’t know who said that, you’re the only one I heard say that.” The boxer continued, “And I don’t have no comment for that, because it’s negative and you’re being negative…and I met the mayor. And there’s nothing they can do about it.”

Needless to say that Tyson was no longer willing to engage with Downer afterwards. He also began yelling obscenities at the television personality, as the question appeared to sink in more as time passed.
