All eyes are on Baltimore, the latest American city to lash out after a Black man laid dead following a police encounter, and authorities had no answers. In light of the tension between citizens and local police following Freddie Gray’s death, TIME Magazine unveils their latest cover, featuring a gripping image that embodies the happenings in Charm City.

Amateur photographer Devin Allen, a 26-year-old West Baltimore resident, captured the happenings at ground zero before, during, and after the riots, earning him social media stardom in the process.

“I CAPTURE the real The Good and Bad,” Allen captioned a photo of a teary-eyed Black police officer, clearly conflicted. His statement is reaffirmed by the TIME cover, which shows a man running away from a fleet of police giving chase.
