A man in Zimbabwe who killed his adversary, and ate his heart, was sentenced to 18 years in prison last Wednesday (April 29). Andrew Chimboza murdered 62-year-old Mbuyiselo Manona last June, after what he says was an argument over a woman.
Chimboza, 35, claimed that Manona attacked him first because he thought he was sleeping with his girlfriend. The verbal argument escalated, and Chimboza stabbed Manona several times, killing him.
Afterwards, Chimboza was seen eating the Manona’s heart….because it was filled with “jealousy and hatred.” A cop witnessed him chomping on the uncooked human organ with a bloody fork and knife next to him. The officer testified about the gruesome scene during Chimboza’s trial, however, cannibalism was not brought up during his sentencing.
Chimboza initially cried self-defense but later struck a deal to plead guilty to murder. He has yet to show remorse. “The extreme brutality of the assault and absence of remorse from the accused for what he has done outweigh the mitigating factors in his personal circumstances and relatively clean record.” said Judge Ashley Binns-Ward.
A psychologist who observed Chimboza determined that he does not suffer from mental illness.
